What is a USB-C charger?

USB-C is a 24 pin USB connection that is marked by its ability to provide a 2-fold rotation/symmetrical connector. A device that is compatible with USB-C will not necessarily be compatible with USB 3.1, general USB Power Delivery or Alternate modes of charging.
Some devices including: Smartphones, tablets and laptops can be powered via USB connections. These connectors and cables are designed for high speed powering and therefore can be an effective, safe and faster means of charging your device without the need of a separate power supply. However, it is also possible to source a laptop charger with a power supply that includes a USB-C compatible tip.
